The Afghan Hound
The following diseases (typed in blue) are reported to occur more frequently in the Afghan Hound than in the general dog population. In some cases the disease either has, or is believed to have, a genetic, hereditary cause but many of the diseases listed here do not have a proven genetic basis. If there is an Information sheet on the subject on Provet the topic will be underlined and you can click on it to go to the link.

Skin diseases

• Demodicosis (Demodex mite)
