Planning a traditional Christmas Pudding Tomorrow ? Don't put money in the pudding - because it can be a serious hazard to young children and PETS !

Traditional Christmas pudding is delicious and, as a child, I used to enjoy trying to find the hidden money inside the pudding. HOWEVER - hidden money is a potential health hazard to young children, as I well remember. More than once I half-choked on hidden sixpenny and threepenny bits (oops - that gives away my age !).

Well, the same hazard exist for dogs (and occasionally cats). Never let pets eat left-over puds if there could be any money left inside. Sometimes swallowed coins can get stuck in the intestine and cause obstruction with all sorts of complications. Poisoning due to the metal content in some coins has been reported !  Save your pet the discomfort and you the cash - don't put coins in puds !

NB Even worse are the potential consequences after feeding the leftovers of your turkey - see tomorrows Petfacts for more information !
