You should seek the advice of your veterinarian if your pet is ill as only he or she can correctly advise on the diagnosis and recommend the treatment that is most appropriate for your pet.

The smell of faeces passed by cats and dogs can be offensive, and if allowed to remain in public places , it can be a real nuisance. Now companies are introducing diets that reduce faecal odour.

According to Nutro, a pet food manufacturer in the US, their newly developed ration for cats "Natural Choice Odor Control" reduces stool odour by 50% or more. The formulation of the ration has been designed to reduce the odour-producing content in faecal waste. This has been achieved whilst still providing a complete ration which meets all the nutritional requirements of a cat. The nutrient formulation is called "OdorCheck System" and Nutro have applied for a patent to protect it. Clearly this food will be of benefit to owners whose cats live indoors all the time, and use a litter tray.*

This is one of many developments in nutrition which we can expect to see over the next few years. Provet will try to keep you up to date. Watch this space !
