You should seek the advice of your veterinarian if your pet is ill as only he or she can correctly advise on the diagnosis and recommend the treatment that is most appropriate for your pet. A study has shown that cats that do not fight can pass on FIV to each other in a household*. An earlier study showed that FIV can be found in cat semen. In study (Jordan et al, ACVIM Proceedings 1994, p1005) it was demonstrated that cats infected with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) had FIV present in their semen. This suggests that FIV (like it's human counterpart HIV) may be a sexually transmitted disease. Based on this observation stud cats should be tested routinely for exposure to the virus and positive cats should not be used as they could present a risk to queens. *Click Here for more information .
