Your report will count as 10 Continuing Education points towards your annual PLLP target of 90 points, and Provet will send you an appraisal of your Entry. The best entries will be judged and you may win an Award !

For a selected species of animal (eg cat,dog,rabbit,horse,cattle, sheep) find out what vaccinations are available in your country. (Your veterinary practice may be able to help you, or search for information on Provet). 

Write a brief report to include the following :

• What are vaccines ?
• What is the difference between a "live" and a "inactivated" vaccine ?
• Which diseases vaccines are available for, in the species that you have selected
• At what age should animals first be vaccinated against different diseases, and what should the initial vaccination course consist of ?
• Should pregnant animals be vaccinated ? If so, when ?
• Why is maternal immunity important ?
• How often is a booster vaccine needed ?
• List any side-effects that might occur following vaccination
• Make any other comments that you would like
