Has an irritant action. Toxic doses not well established.
Oral doses in mg/kg:
diarrhoea with colic;
congestion of the mucous membranes
Generally good outcome within a few hours
erosions developing into ulcerations of the lips, tongue and oropharynx;
No specific antidote. Symptomatic care only:
do not induce vomiting;
adsorbents (activated vegetable charcoal);
localized treatment (buccal area) using antiseptic mouthwashes and topical pain-relieving
