- (10-20 mg/kg orally three times daily) or doxycyline (5 mg/ twice daily) for 3 weeks is fairly effective at controlling infection, but usually does not totally eliminate infection.
- In those cases where immune mediated haemolytic anaemia occurs, prednisolone (1-2 mg/kg orally twice daily) may be helpful. The dose should be reduced over 6-8 weeks depending on progress.
- Blood transfusions may be given in severe cases or fluid therapy may be required.
