Improvement of clinical signs following treatment of cats with either isoniazid or streptomycin has been reported, but did not produce a bacteriological cure. Successful treatment of dogs experimentally infected with M. tuberculosis has been reported with rifampin, isoniazid and streptomycin for 23 months.

However, as bacteriological cure is rare, euthanasia is often recommended on public health grounds.
