RABIES: The incubation period
This is very variable and depends on
factors such as those outlined above. Under experimental conditions in dogs the
range is 9-125 days (mean 24 days) an cats 9-51 days (median 18 days).
Under natural conditions the incubation
period is generally 1-2 months, though in some instances it may be much longer,
up to 6 months. In dogs, cases have occasionally been recorded beyond this time.
