INFECTIOUS CANINE HEPATITIS CLINICAL
SIGNS

The clinical signs of ICH can vary enormously
in severity.

First clinical sign is pyrexia and this
may be only clinical sign.

At other end of the clinical spectrum,
some dogs may die within 24 hours of onset of pyrexia
-
Typically signs include:
-
apathy
-
anorexia
-
increased thirst.
-
Vomiting and diarrhoea and abdominal
tenderness are also common.
-
Sometimes conjunctivitis and photophobia.
-
Often vascular endothelial damage leads
to petechial haemorrhage on mucous membranes and sometimes skin.
-
Possibly also jaundice.
-
Can also be a cause of
kennel cough
.

Rarely neurological signs due to haemorrhage
in CNS.
-
Blue eye, if seen, occurs 1-3 weeks after
acute signs have disappeared.
