- The prevention of infectious enteritis depends on the isolation of susceptible dogs from infected dogs and from infected material.
- Use chlorine solutions (1 in 30 dilution), formalin (1% solution), glutaraldehyde-based or other specialist disinfectants to disinfect kennels, runs, feed implements, personnel and other fomites.
Note: Most disinfectants cannot penetrate, or are inactivated by, large lumps of organic matter, so cleanliness is an essential prerequisite of disinfection.
