Positive inotropes

Digoxin: Slows heart rate. May act as a positive inotrope. Use to control CHF when frusemide alone is not sufficient. Also to reduce ventricular response to supraventricular tachycardias.

IV dose 0.002-0.003 mg/kg twice daily.

Use oral dose if possible 0.01-0.015 mg/kg twice daily (or double this dose once daily).

Try to maintain within therapeutic range of 1.0-2.0 itg/kg/min IV).

Dopamine:Used as an infusion at 1-5 itg/kg/min IV.

Dobutamine: Used as an infusion at 1-5 ug/kg/min IV.
