8.3.4 Other potential causes of collapse
Other causes of collapse at rest include colic, rhabdomyolysis, laminitis and a number of rare metabolic disorders such as hypoglycaemia. If these conditions have been severe enough to cause an animal to collapse, the animal is usually still recumbent when examined. Biochemical and radiographic examination may be required in some cases.
