5.13 Arrhythmias in the neonate

Many arrhythmias, including ventricular premature complexes and atrial fibrilhave been reported in foals immediately after birth. The majority of these abnormalities are short-lived and sinus rhythm usually returns after 24~72 hours without treatment. Persistent arrhythmias may be associated with underlying structural disease or systemic illness.
