5.9.3 Diagnosis

Diagnosis is made on the grounds of auscultatory findings and echocardioCardiac catheterisation can be used to measure the pressure gradient across the valve and is a relatively simple technique for the investigation of right-sided heart lesions. A less invasive method is the use of DE to measure blood flow velocity and calculate the pressure gradient (see section 4.2.7).
